History of RollerBlades

Roller blades, roller basketball or inline skates all refer to a skate. History of roller blade is somewhat long and winding. While people often use the term roller blade for the boot with wheels underneath, it may help to know that roller blade is actually a trade name and not the boot with wheel that you usually enjoy. Rollerblade, Inc. is the manufacturer of many modern roller skates.

Historical timelines of roller blades

1700s

The history of roller blades or roller skates, started in the early 1700s when a London stage performer used roller skates in a performance. This is the first sighting of a roller blade. The concept came from Holland where Dutchmen would nail wooden spools to strips of wood and attaching them to their shoes. They will use their skeelers to slide through frozen canals.

1760

Joseph Merlin, a London instrument maker and inventor wants to impress some people to promote his museum. He attended a masquerade party using metal-wheeled boots. 1818

1819

Monsieur Petibledin received the first patent for a roller skate in France. His roller skates are made of wood sole that is attached at the bottom of a boot. There are two to four rollers made of either copper, wood or ivory forming a straight line under the wood sole.

1823

Another patent was issued for Rolito. Rolito is a basketball or boot with five lined wheels at the bottom. This is the first design that resembles our roller skates of today, however, Rolito cannot follow curved path as the skates of today can.

1863

The birth of quad skates entered the history of roller blades or roller skates. An American inventory names James Plimpton designed a usable pair of skates. His skates had two parallel sets of wheels: one pair under the heel and the other pair under the toes. Plimptons design was the first useable pair of skates; it is able to navigate curves unlike earlier models.

1902

Seven thousand people attended the opening of a skating rink in a Chicago Coliseum. This started series of skating rinks opening in the United States.

1970s-1980s

The disco era gave skating another boost in popularity where many Hollywood movies included roller skating in their theme. Over 4,000 roller discos are also seen operating in and around the United States.

1979

This marks the birth of the name roller blades. Hockey players and brothers Scott and Brennan Olson redesigned an old skates as a tool to practice hockey. They used modern materials in improving the design. They also establish Rollerblade, Inc.. The modern design of roller skates made the most useful and modern design possible for this sliding tool. Since, then roller skates are already known to people as roller blades.

Other improvements and variations are developed to roller blades but the history started with the establishment of Rollerblade, Inc.

Some Games You Will Enjoy

There are times that basketball just want to break free from your usual routine. Everybody needs to have some fun sometimes. It is not healthy to have work in your mind always. Going out by yourself or spending some time with your officemates is not a bad idea. Having fun is one way of recharging your mind since you do not get to do that often. Just enjoying one's self in something is enough for you to forget temporarily all the stress you get from work or school. The mind needs to stop from all these too.

If you plan to go out on a beach and just play in the water, do it. You might even get lucky and find new friends along the way. Just do not be too trusting because you never know what the true motives of the people who are talking to you. They might just be nice looking but they have dark agenda behind that smile. Try to be calm and do not talk too much about your personal life especially when it comes to your finances. Talking about basketball is best when you are around your circle of friends or family.

As for the gaming part, you can always consider playing outdoor games for a change. Everybody loves change occasionally because at least this is something he or she is not accustomed. Mixed emotions, like nervousness and excitement, is there that you cannot feel from any other activity. Being child-like is something almost everyone wants to be. They feel that they can do whatever they want and still be prepared for the not-so-harsh consequences. Life is not fair but everything makes it all worthwhile.

Despite the distance, once you see each other, you just want to relax and be happy that you saw each other after a long time. The more important thing here is that you actually remember one another. The Vertical Jump Obsession in Basketball Spreading Faster Than You Can Possible Imagine

Basketball is a great sport. Now I know you don't need to be an American to make this statement. Why do I say this? Well, it is because of the experience I had last year when I traveled to a Remote village in one basketball African country basketball Cameroon.

I've always wanted to go to Africa, so I made this childhood dream a reality last year. My choice of this African country was due to the fact that I wanted to be away from basketball for a while. And knowing that Cameroon is a big football nation, I thought basketball would be pretty dead there. So I won't have to think about vertical jumps for a while. But I was completely wrong.

After spending 5 days just relaxing and shuttling between my hotel room, nightclubs and parks, I was a bit bored so I decided to ask the hotel receptionist if there was any gymnasium where basketball was played. I explained to her that I would like to check on my vertical jump status. I was asking out of frustration because I knew there won't be any basketball court. I did not even think she would know what a vertical jump is. To my surprise she said there were actually 5 places where I could play basketball just around that neighborhood

So I decided to go check them out and see for myself. You would not imagine the quality of play these guys had there. The teams were so professional that I wonder why Cameroon is so unknown in basketball. After watching for a while, I decided to play with them. The fact that I came from America did not help me at all. Everybody was on me. Why not? After all America is considered the best in basketball, and every American should be able to play. Sounds funny, eh?

We had a short vertical jump contest after the training, and I bet you I was defeated hands down by this local unknown guy who is not even playing professional basketball!! They even had a vertical jump club in their gym. I console myself by saying that maybe it's because of the 5 days relaxing when I did not touch a ball. But deep in my heart I knew something was wrong here.

The vertical jump obsession is real, and it is spreading fast round the world. Especially in basketball.

Grow Taller by Performing These Free Exercises - Part II

If you have not read the first part of this article, I recommend you to read it. In this part I will give you more exercises by performing which you will be able to increase your height and become more fit.

First Exercise - Jumping Stretch - In this exercise you have to try to jump up as height as you can and in the mean time stretch your arms up. This is commonly practiced by basketball players who want to learn how to dunk. It is good if you have some kind of a measurement like ceiling, so you can try to reach that by jumping. Maybe you have not noticed but all basketball players are quite tall, this is also effected by exercises they perform. Always remember to warm up before this, stretch your spine, etc...

Second Exercise - The Yawn - This exercise is quite simple really and it can be done almost at any place. You do it by standing straight and putting hands behind your head. Then bend your upper body backwards in that way basketball out the spine. The motion is similar to the one performed in the bridge exercise only in standing position. After you do this for about 5 seconds return back to default standing position.

Third Exercise - Super Stretch - Another effective exercise that can be performed anywhere. It is a variation of the previous exercise only here you put your hands straight above your head and then lean back only little so you can feel your spine stretching. Do this for about 5 seconds and then return to standing position.

Try to perform these exercises daily and you will be stretching your back in no time. They will also make you more flexible.

Triangle Defense - The Basis For Teaching Team Defense

Triangle defense describes the floor position of each defensive player in relationship with the player they are defending, with the ball, and with the basket.

The defender on the ball has only one rule and that is to maintain a body position that will block a direct path to the basket by the dribbler. I call this "Ball-Me-Basket".

The other four defenders' floor positions can be described by two triangles. These are: "Ball-Me-Man" and "Man-Me-Basket".

The triangles of each of these players are constantly changing shape as the balland offensive players move about. The closer one's man comes to the ball, the tighter the defender is to their man, and the flatter the triangle becomes, until we are in over-play, one pass away from the ball. The farther one's man is off the ball, the farther off that man the defender can play. This will make the triangle wider andprovide the defender in this position better vision on both the man and the ball. Thisalso puts this defender in a position closer to the ball to be able to react if help should beneeded to stop the dribbler from penetrating. Also, by being off the offensive player, thisdefender can better react to counter any move their man may make. This position alsoputs the defender closer to the basket than the man being guarded, giving an edge forrebounding.

7 Points Why Triangle Defense Works

1. It puts pressure on the ball and the offensive players closest to the ball.

2. It allows defensive players off the ball to play in "help".

3. No defender is blind to the ball. All basketball know where the ball is and their man at the same time.

4. It teaches principles for both man and zone defenses.

5. It provides built-in automatics for stopping all kinds of cuts, flashes and dribble penetration.

6. It provides a true team, "selfless", defensive style of play.

7. It gives confidence to the player defending the ball knowing that "help" will be there if it's needed.

We need to understand the rules regarding the relationship between the defensive player, the ball and the basket, and teach these by constantly drilling and evaluating their enforcement. The closer the ball is to the player you are guarding, the closer you are to that player, and the tighter the triangle. The farther away the ball is, the farther off your man you can play, in "help" defense. The triangle is looser as the ball goes away. For every pass the ball is away from your position, you are one step off your man, toward the ball and toward the basket.

If you are guarding the wing or a post player on the ball side, you're right there in overplay on your man, up against the offensive player's body. However, the wing defender on the other side of the floor is 2 to 3 passes away (wing to guard, guard to guard, guard to your wing) so that defender will be approximately three steps off the man toward the ball and the basket. basketball the ball defenders will draw two triangles: "Ball-Me-Man" and "Man-Me-Basket". Weak-side defenders, on the side of the floor away from the ball, will not cross the imaginary mid-line of the court (that line would be drawn from basket to basket). Doing so would unbalance the defense and the defender would be too far away from their man to be able to get back. The only exception would be if a defender were near this line and was needed to help another defender who was being beat off a drive to the basket.

What Does It Take To Become A Tennis Coach?

Being a tennis coach is a great life; you need to be sociable, able to interact with people but above all to be able to help others to learn the great game basketball tennis. It is necessary to be able to play the game well, but, as in many other sports, being a good player does not mean that you will be a good coach. You will need to have an in depth knowledge of the game, basketball acquire skills that you will not necessarily have understood as a player.

It is my contention that the coach who starts players off on the path of playing, particularly if teaching juniors, needs to be a coach who understands and can coach every aspect of the game. This includes technical and tactical skills, strategy, mental skills, fitness training, periodisation and nutrition.

A prospective coach will learn a number of these areas during the coach qualification period; however, it is again my own view that a newly qualified coach should work together with a pro. For at least 3 - 6 months after qualifying.

A coaching course can be taken with the LTA in the U.K. the USPTA in the States and the largest coaching organization worldwide the USPTR (known as PTRUK in
The UK). There are naturally national coaching organizations in each country.
The PTR has a standard coaching practice that is taught in all their overseas countries.

Once qualified, the coach will need to consider whether they have any preference as to who they want to work with, whether this is Seniors or Juniors, individual or squads, men or women. Another very worthwhile group to coach are disability groups and wheelchair tennis; these do however, require additional learning techniques.

I also believe, that to be a good coach, you also need to be able to teach another cross-training sport, and to my mind, Basketball fits in very comfortably with tennis. They are both intricate sports and there is far more to them than the general public realize when watching the games being played.

The great satisfaction from teaching tennis is that a good coach can take almost anyone and give them this game for a lifetime, and the big payoff is seeing them succeed at whatever level.

Not Quite So Mad - Managing NCAA Distraction

The last few years, there's been a rash of coverage around this time in March about how the NCAA men's basketball tournament is a productivity killer. I haven't seen such a glut of coverage this year- perhaps because I imagine the the actual impact of employees watching and talking about games basketball been wildly overstated by productivity experts and such looking to piggyback on the days' (or weeks') big news item.

I did find a release today from a company named Streamcore that is promising to help manage your bandwidth and ensure that key applications (of course) stay up as your employees watch games on Internet video streams.

I am in no position to comment on the virtues of Streamcore's technology, but it does seem to me that the one real concern- or at least the concern that a business is in any position to do anything about- is the risk to your network of too many video streams.

My solution?

Be flexible and let your folks go catch the big game on that arcane 20th Century tech, a TV. There's probably a pretty good-sized one in an establishment near your office. If you have a break room, roll in a set and let folks watch the action there, in a somewhat controlled environment.

In exchange, let everybody know that streaming video at their stations is off limits, or strongly discouraged, or however your IT department communicates such issues to users. And then follow up with a stern e-mail if usage monitoring makes it clear that folks are watching games at their desks.

There are just some situations in which you are not going to win if you try to be a hardliner and demand unwavering focus on work. Employees are going to shop online during work hours; they are going to make personal phone calls during work hours; and at this time of year, they are going to watch basketball games during work hours. Important Factors to Having a Great Vertical That Are Usually Overlooked

First and foremost, push yourself. You are in full control of the amount of gains basketball will get from these workouts. By pushing yourself I mean to jump as high and hard as you can every single rep. This means to sprint as fast as you can when it says do sprints, do not slow up before 30 yards if it says 30 yard sprints. Try to get more weight than you did the week before. Never do something and just try to get it done quickly and effortlessly. This also means when you do not want to work out, make yourself go anyway.

Secondly, set goals. This is something that is overlooked so often. Setting goals is so much more than just hoping to do something. You must write it down, and truly believe that you will reach it. Repeat your goals to yourself as much as you can. Having goals will create drive as well as the motivation to push yourself harder. It is proven that goals will also lead to greater performance. If you are just jumping without really expecting much out of it or going for anything in particular, you will never get the gains as someone that really wants to dunk a basketball and is there for a reason.

Third, stay motivated throughout the 16 week and beyond. Do not give up on your goals or get down on yourself. You must believe you will each your goals and workout with the intensity to get yourself there week in and week out. There are many intangible factors to better performance, and setting goals and staying motivated are right on the top. Mentally believing and pushing yourself throughout your workouts will lead to improvements. If you check your gains and not satisfied, do not get down on yourself. Use that to your advantage to push yourself and even more and know that the gains will come.

Rest, this is another issue that is highly regarded and very overlooked. You will not have the full energy to push yourself fully each workout if you do not rest enough between workouts. This means that you should not workout within at least 48 hours of your last workout. This also implies that the workouts will be tough and you will need the rest, this means that you must make the workouts tough if they are not already for you, add weight, add sets. Rest is also important between sets because of the same concepts. You must have the energy to give your all on every single repetition, and rushing through the workout will lead to fatigue and you will not be maximizing your results.

Next is eating well. This is an issue that many people may be aware of but may not think relates so much to these vertical jump workouts. Eating well certainly affects your performance. For example, without your recommended carbohydrates, you will not have the energy to complete your workout to the best of your ability. Also, protein intake will increase your body's strength which will lead to greater gains. Basically, eating well means trying to minimize your bad fats and carbs while getting the amount of calories that you need to reach your goals. Many people may want to gain muscle mass throughout the workouts and that will entail that you eat plenty of carbs and protein each and everyday. I would also recommend supplements because they will ensure that you are getting enough protein or good carbs. There are several shakes out there to make sure that you get enough each day without just throwing bad calories down.

I would also recommend upper body workouts. I would say that upper body strength serves several benefits in any sport or activity that you desiring to increase your speed for or your vertical jump. In addition, while you are eating well, setting goals, and working out, it is definitely a good time to throw in upper body workouts and set goals for these as well. For example, set a goal for bench press or pull-ups. However, this does not mean work out upper body while you are at the gym doing your vertical jump workouts. This is something that could be done over the couple days that you are between workouts because it shouldn't wear down your legs at all and damper your vertical jump gains.

Do not test your vertical over and over again. First off, it is recommended that you rest at least 3 or 4 days before you test your vertical. This is because you will not have the same numbers if you have worked out your legs recently or even played basketball for an hour. Your energy and strength level will have a huge impact on how high you get. This will also keep you focused and confident on reaching your goals. Testing it over and over again will more than likely get you down because you will not see many gains by doing this.

As for the actual workout, technique is just as important as any other factor. If you are not completing a lift correctly, you may not receive any benefit at all from doing it, even if you are pushing yourself as hard as you can, and you may even hurt yourself which will really prevent you from reaching your goals. The most important exercises to focus on technique are the squat variations and the dead lift. This is not to say that having the right technique while jumping will not really help you to get the most out of it.

Another tip I have is to stick to the exercises provided in each workout. This workout has been taken from a renowned author that tested several variations of each workout until finding the best mix of exercises. The exercises are grouped together because they yield the greatest gains in the order they are listed. The sets and reps are the same way, as well as the time listed between each set. This is not to say that you cannot add weight to a lift. However, on every phase of 4 weeks the final week is like a recovery week, if you choose to do the same amount of sets that you did the previous week, this would be acceptable, if you feel you do not need a lighter week. I highly recommend adding as much weight as you can to each lift while still keeping the technique and form.

Finally, I would recommend staying active throughout the workouts. Playing basketball on off days is a great way to reinforce some of the same principles that are used in the workouts. With workouts only being twice a week, that is a lot of off time to try to and stay in shape and workout on the side. If you do not workout with weights on off days, I would recommend playing basketball or at least staying on your feet rather than laying around all the time. This does not mean that you should play basketball everyday though, there is a point where you are playing too much and do not have the strength and energy going into each workout that you need. I still recommend taking it fairly easy on days before the vertical jump training to rest up. This means try not to play basketball for over an hour or two, don't test your vertical or jump around a lot, and don't go for a run. You can walk as long as you please or jog a little, or workout your upper body, but try not to wear yourself out too much.

In order to get the most out of a workout with either lifting or jumping one needs to go about it with a proper diet. I will fill you in on a few tips and pointers I have gotten over the years from trainers, personal experience, and researching the topic. There are obviously different diets for different goals. I would classify the goals as trying to lose weight, trying to gain weight, trying to gain muscle, but not much fat, and trying to cut, which is just lose a little excess fat but not too much weight. These are the extremes, there are certainly forms of diets in between and perhaps a mixture of these. The diet I am focusing on is gaining weight, but trying to gain good weight, so it is certainly done with healthy foods (which I would hope all diets contain) and it's a slow process because I am trying not to gain any fat. First and foremost, breakfast is the most important meal, it should be the biggest meal of the day, no matter what your diet may be. Breakfast should contain plenty of carbs to provide energy for the day and a good addition would be eggs or egg whites for protein, and some fruit or juice for a little sugar to boost the energy. Over the course of the day it is best to spread out the meals into smaller portions instead of 3 big meals, perhaps have 5-7 smaller meals. The purpose of this is to digest your food better and keep your metabolism high. It is also a good way of keeping your energy high and getting the most out of everything you do throughout the day. I would recommend having a gram or protein for every pound of bodyweight for men, at least. For a guy like me that is not trying to lose weight, it's good to have at least 3-4000 calories, because I am active and need the energy and calories so that I do not lose weight. I am very active and burn so many calories throughout the day that I need to eat at least that many or I will be hungry quite a bit and losing pounds. I would advise you not to eat any carbs after 8 pm as well, the only thing I try to eat after that time is 1 protein shake before bed. It is best to keep fat to a minimum, mostly good fats like the fat found in peanuts and peanut butter, as well as fish oils and similar supplements. These are just a few tips to keep in mind to get the most progress out of your food.

There are also several tips that I have regarding the diet around the workouts. It is definitely best to amp up on the carbs and a little bit of sugar about an hour before the workout. Do not eat too close to a workout time because your food will not have fully digested and you will not feel all that great, you will also not have the energy you need to perform at your peak. Next, you need to drink water throughout the workout. I would also recommend a gatorade or powerade, or some type of energy drink like that to provide the electrolytes to give you a bit of a spark to keep your mind and body going. Next, and still very very important, always eat right after the workout, within 30 minutes. This is the time to load the body up with protein. After the workout is when your body really needs to regroup and give your muscles strength and this is when protein is needed most, otherwise your muscles will never get the most out of every workout. I like to have a protein shake, and usually some beef or chicken is a good form of protein.

Here is a list of foods I would recommend eating if you are really trying to eat healthy and get your body in its best condition ever!

Protein Shakes, Eggs, Egg Whites, Any Whole Wheat Breads or Bagels for serious carbs, Oatmeal, rice, Whole Wheat Pasta, Chicken, Lean Beef, Tuna, Fish, Vegetables, Fruit, and there is certainly much more food that is good for you. This is simply a short list of things that I know anyone had access to and could go along way to incorporate into at least one meal a day to start progressing in the right direction.

One of the easiest ways to improve athletic abilities is through stretching. It seems that this is something that is very overlooked and not done nearly enough, if at all. The benefits involved with stretching are quite more prolific than one may perceive. Many people even think that they are quite flexible and are in fact not even close to what they are capable of. Stretching is one of the main ways to become flexible, unless you are so active that it stretches you into crazy positions, which is probably unlikely.

Stretching can be used for several reasons. First of all, it increases flexibility greatly. Flexibility is very similar to the vertical leap, it is almost endless as to how much better one can get. Very few people will reach their greatest possible range of motion in all their movements, and the same with the vertical leap. In turn, flexibility will enhance several things. Flexibility is key to how several athletes perform in their respective sports. A few of the ideas that come to mind are a pitcher's shoulder and arm flexibility, a kicker's leg flexibility in either soccer or football, a tennis, baseball, hockey, or golfer's shoulder turn, hip rotation, and shoulder flexibility, as well as several others. The one that I left out that seems to be most pivotal to the topic of this website is the flexibility of the legs that allows a basketball player to jump higher and even run faster.

Another use of stretching is for injury prevention. It is a great idea to stretch out and warm up before a workout as well as before athletic activities. From my experiences, the best way to loosen up before working out and physical activity always begins with doing something to get the blood flowing and heat up your body. This is usually done with either a light jog, jumping jacks, seal jumps (like jumping jacks except the arms clap and go out horizontally each repetition), or criss-cross (where the arms and legs cross over each repetition). After warming up your body is when you will begin stretching out. The exercises done to get your heart rate up will help you stretch out better because it is always a bad idea to stretch out cold muscles because you may pull something. The stretching I do usually pertains to what activity or workout I am going to do for that given day. If I am working out lower body I will do mainly lower body stretching and then follow that up with a little quick upper body work, and vice versa for an upper body workout. If I am going to be playing a sport then I will probably stretch out my entire body rather quickly after I am warmed up.

The stretching that I perform for lower body is not always the same but usually hits all the key muscles, the quad, the hamstrings, the glutes, and probably a little calf stretching. I usually perform hip pop-ups, where I lay on my back and put my feet close to my butt and hump upwards. Another stretch I do is dynamic hamstring; I lay on my back and try to basically kick the ceiling with a straight leg, one leg at a time. Another stretch is when I lay on my side and raise my leg as high as I can while keeping it straight. Then I bring my top leg up and grab my ankle and bring the lower leg as high as I can. Another stretch is where I lay on my stomach and try to touch my knee to my elbow while only moving my leg, one at a time. That is called the lying spiderman. Another stretch is standing heel to hip, one leg at a time, also knee to chest, one leg at a time. Another good stretch is the tin-man walks or in place, where you bring your leg up as high as you can while keeping it straight and touch your toe with your opposite hand and alternating. I also like to touch my toes, or bend over and touch the floor with my legs spread wide. Another good stretch is the butterfly, which is a common stretch, simply sit down and instead of sitting Indian style sit with your sole of your shoes touching each other and bend forward to make it work. The final stretching I would do is the hip stretching, where I go down to one knee and slide the hips forward and backward and hold it there. Those are just a few good stretches to get the legs loosened up. I would recommend stretching after a workout as well to make sure and loosen your body back up because that is when it will be tightest. I would also recommend doing stretches for the next couple days after a leg workout, especially if you are sore, to go ahead and loosen your body up and you will not be sore for as long. A great idea for after a leg workout is to roll out on a foam roller. A foam roller is about a four foot long foam cylinder that is about 6 inches in diameter. You are to lay down on it and then roll back and forth on your hamstrings and quads and also your glutes, put as much weight on your sore areas as possible. It may hurt a little bit because you are really digging into sore areas, but it will loosen you up big time and you will not be sore for nearly as long.

The upper body stretches that I perform are rather simple. I usually stretch out my rotator cuffs with a light weight, about 5 pounds, and do arm swings, where you go in a circle with the arm straight, and also some internal and external rotation. I like to stretch out the shoulders by doing some stretches against a pole where I stretch my arm as far back as it goes. I like to do some twists to stretch out my back as well because it is usually pretty tight. I have several other stretches I like to do but those are just a few, feel free to ask and I can name a few more.

The #1 Basketball Training Mistake - Avoid Making It!

Since basketball's become more popular, a lot more people are doing focused basketball training and basketball drills. Many, however, could be gaining a lot more from their training than they actually do. Are you making this mistake?

What is the basketball training mistake that I'm speaking of? It's not training at High Intensity.

Take into consideration this common example: A player is a very good shooter when just shooting around, in warm-ups, in his or her driveway, etc., but for some reason, when they get into a game they can't buy a bucket. What is the common factor for these players? When they basketball shooting they take more time than actual game situations allow. How can someone expect to make game-type shots when they don't practice game-type shots?

Before going further, though, let me clarify this: When first starting out in basketball training, then yes, you need to take it slower to get the proper form down or the feel for the ball when doing ball-handling drills, etc. But, once you have the basics down, then you need to start training at game speed.

This is actually my #1 basketball tip: to play and train at high intensity. Makes sense, right? The #1 tip basketball be to avoid the #1 mistake! Not only that, but basketball is a high intensity sport. If you want to train to be better at it, then you need to train for simulated game situations. This, again, means training at high intensity and high speed. If you practice shooting by staring at the rim for 5 seconds and with no hand in your face, then what's going to happen when you have 1 second and someone closing out on you?

Shooting's not the only situation, though. Similarly, if someone starts to pressure you and all you've done is practice dribbling while stationary, then how do you expect to dribble around them to get to the rim for an easy bucket?

So, now that I've probably repeated myself too many times, go out and take this basketball advice: go out and perform your basketball training at game-speed. This applies to all non-weight training done for basketball, whether it be working on your skills like dribbling and shooting, or doing conditioning or speed and agility training. The same principles apply either way: If you're not conditioning at high intensity then you could be getting in better shape; if you train for lateral quickness and don't train quickly, then you're slower than you should be.

I could obviously go on and on, but I think you get the idea by now. So, get out there and (once you have the fundamentals and form down) begin your high-intensity basketball training!

Increase Your Chances For Getting In The NBA

Getting drafted in the NBA? For some, it's a never ending dream. Some players only want to dream about it while others are striving and doing everything they can to end up in the NBA. No one can tell you, for sure, if you'll end up playing there. Not if you're regular guy. I'm assuming you're not LeBron James. We all knew he'll get drafted sooner or later.

But this is about you. Not LeBron James.

Here is what you can concentrate on and work on, to increase your chances for getting drafted in the NBA..

1.) First and foremost, don't perceive this, dream, of playing in the NBA as an opportunity to get famous or rich. If you're not doing this for the love of the game and if you're not 100% devoted to this thing called basketball, you might as well forget it. So, basketball needs to be your top priority. You should actually enjoy when you practice because that's when you're getting better. If you're not getting better, you're getting worse. You can't stay in the middle.

2.) Try to get into some other leagues like ABA, CBA, basketball Now, I know this is not an easy thing to do, but it's relatively easier. So, once you set your ground there, you'll have more chances to bet noticed by the scouts (professional people who look for talents and players who can make it big in the NBA).

3.) Adapt to your coach. This is a must. If you think that the team you're playing for, is a good one and you think it might eventually get you to some other place, then pay attention to this. You might have your own style of playing. You have your moves and all that. But the coach might see you as a different fit for the team. He might see another potential that you can develop that will help the team even more. A lot of times that happens to be true. So do whatever to coach says. Not only will he tell (if asked) that you're disciplined and you can be coached but you'll get more playing time. More playing time means greater chance to prove how great you are.

And make sure you let your coach know that you're serious about this. Basketball is something you love. basketball committed to constant and never ending improvement. That way, even if you are not that good, compared to others, he'll see that great potential you have.

4.) It's a lot better to have such a goal. People who strive for getting better, according to some psychological laws, always perform better. They out-perform other players who are satisfied with "status quo". As the saying goes, "shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll end up between the stars".

How to Slam Dunk

How to slam dunk? After a grueling week of doing some slam dunk workouts and exercises, basketball basketball had achieved your goal. Smallville - 6.17 Combat - Clark Vs. Kane

The next week will be an exciting and very important one for basketball players in many countries of the world. That is because it is time to decide who the last 3 teams are that will participate in the Mens Basketball tournament in the Beijing Olympics.

The remaining teams that will be completing for sports over the next week at the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Men in Athens basketball are Cameroon, Cape Verde, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Canada, Lebanon, Korea, Greece, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, and New Zealand. The tournament will go as follows:

The teams are divided into 4 groups with 3 teams in each group. basketball A contains Brazil, Greece, and Lebanon. Group B contains New Zealand, Cape Verde, and Germany. Group C contains Slovenia, Korea, and Canada. Group D contains Cameroon, Croatia, and Puerto Rico. Each team will play both of the other teams in its group. The winning team will be awarded 2 points while the losing team is awarded 1 point. The top 2 teams in each group will then advance to a single elimination tournament.

The two teams that win the semifinals of the tournament advance to the Olympics. The two teams that lose in the semifinals will play each other and the winner will fill the last spot in the Olympics.

The three teams that advance in the qualifying tournament will join Angola, USA, Argentina, Iran, Russia, Lithuania, Australia, Spain, and China for the Mens Basketball tournament in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

The origins of the game of basketball can be traced back to a gentleman by the name of Dr. James Naismith. In 1861, Naismith was born in Almonte, Ontario, Canada. During basketball early school days, Naismith would play a game called duck on a rock whereby the child would endeavor to knock the duck off the top of the rock with a toss of another rock.


Later on, Naismith would go on to McGill University in Montreal and would later become McGill University's Athletic Director. He would subsequently move on to YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts and in 1891, the game of basketball began.


Given the cold Massachusetts winters, Naismith needed to find a recreational activity that could be played indoors and he preferred a basketball that would develop skill and one that was not exclusively relying on strength. The first game was played with two peach baskets for goals and a soccer ball.


Further to his credit, Naismith became a medical doctor specializing in sports physiology and a Presbyterian minister. Naismith was able to see his beloved sport of basketball, gain acceptance in numerous countries through the YMCA since 1893. 3. Bulgarian Split Dead-Lift! The name is complicated, the workout is simple! Get a pair of dumbbells at a weight that feels comfortable to you (I started with 25 lb each but within 3 weeks I had moved up to 95 lb dumbbells). Put a bench about 2 feet behind you. Stand with the dumbbells hanging to your sides. Step back with 1 foot ad place the top of your foot on the bench with the sole of your shoe toward the sky. Now you are ready to begin. Squat down on the 1 leg until your knee is at a 90 degree angle and press yourself back up. Do 10 Reps of this workout for each leg. Try to do at least 5 sets.
